Dr. Stager Jr. has practiced ophthalmology since 1992 and is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Ophthalmological Society, and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. A Dallas native, he attended St. Mark’s School of Texas before graduating Phi Beta Kappa and cum laude from Southern Methodist University. After earning his medical degree and completing his ophthalmology residency, he pursued fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. There, he trained under Dr. Marshall M. Parks, widely recognized as the founder of pediatric ophthalmology.
As the practice’s physician, Dr. Stager provides personalized care for children and adults. His practice focuses on general pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, contributed chapters to ophthalmology textbooks, and served as a guest lecturer throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. He has also participated in national research, including the NIH-funded Infant Aphakia Treatment Study.
Dr. Stager remains actively involved in professional and community service. He has served in leadership roles with the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Retina Foundation of the Southwest, Dallas Services, and Lighthouse for Christ Mission. His humanitarian work has taken him around the world to provide surgical care and train pediatric ophthalmologists.
In 2008, Dr. Stager co-founded One World One Vision, an international organization dedicated to identifying and treating strabismus and pediatric cataracts in developing countries. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his four children, Hayden, Trey, Sophie, and Vivienne. He is also passionate about fitness, cycling, and competitive triathlons, including full and half Ironman events.

Debbie is the proud grandma—better known as “Meme”—to Shelby and Garrett. A voracious reader, she especially enjoys studying the Bible and is always eager to learn and grow in her faith. She loves watching soccer, baseball, and basketball and never misses an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren at their games.
Debbie has been a valued member of Dr. Stager Jr.’s team for more than 10 years and currently works remotely from Idaho. She has been happily married to her husband, Gary, for 41 years. Together, they have one awesome son, Gabe, and a wonderful daughter-in-law, Kim. Family is at the heart of everything Debbie does, and she treasures every moment spent supporting and celebrating those she loves.

Anaiya’s undergraduate degree in child development led her to pediatric eye care in 2022. Her understanding of children allows her to assist Dr. Stager Jr. during eye exams with sensitivity and care, ensuring each child feels comfortable and understood. She performs preliminary eye exams, conducts diagnostic tests, and gathers essential information about your child’s vision and eye health. Anaiya’s commitment to child development is further demonstrated by her pursuit of a master’s degree in the field. Her unique background and passion make our practice truly exceptional.
